Traveler's Notebook Dashboard

“But First, Coffee” Paper Craft Dashboard

Today I will be doing a quick post on a dashboard I made. Dashboards are typically made for Traveler’s Notebooks or memory keeping journals. This was made for my Traveler’s Notebook. I like this kind of project because it can also be used for a card or a gift card holder. I have created a YouTube video on my channel if you would like to see my crafting in action.

Dashboard StencilingIn order to create more visual interest in the project, I applied some on the Tea Dye distress ink. I just randomly blended the ink all over the paper. My next step was to use the stencil and the Vintage Photo distress ink. Again, I didn’t want too much uniformity in the ink application so I just added ink until I got my desired effect.

I wanted to add a bit of texture to this project so I sewed around the edge of the paper. I applied a small piece of tape on the back of the paper (where my sewing started and finished), to secure the stitches.

Next step was to glue on the die cuts. For the coffee cup I just used double sided tape. For the lettering I used foam adhesive to pop it up a bit. This again creates more visual interest and texture. As an added element and to ensure the die cut stayed put, I stapled the coffee cup as well. The photos don’t really capture this element well but I like the effect in person.

Overall I am SO happy with how this project turned out. I have definitely been sticking to a coffee theme this last month as we embarked on night time potty training and did some dog sitting for a friend. There are a few more dashboards I’ll be sharing over the next couple of weeks. I have been having a lot of fun playing with my distress inks and getting to know my Silhouette Cameo better. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to share below. I would love to hear about your own dashboards you’ve made that you are proud of. If you have re-created this dashboard yourself, I would love to see it too.
